Director General of the Department of Education, Training and Employment

Jim Watterston

Dr Jim Watterston was appointed as the Director-General of the Department of Education, Training and Employment in April 2013. He has previously held positions including Deputy Secretary of the School Education Group in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in Victoria and as the Director-General of the Department of Education and Training (DET) in the Australian Capital Territory.

Dr Watterston is excited to be taking on the leadership of a department with constituencies in the training and employment sectors as well as education.

Dr Watterston also currently serves as the National President of the Australian Council for Educational Leadership. He is also a board member of Education Services Australia.
