Training organisations and course accreditation:
The council's powers and functions in relation to the regulation and registration of training organisations and the accreditation of courses have been transferred to the Commonwealth national vocational education and training regulator the Australian Skills Quality Authority.

Apprenticeship and traineeship
The council's remaining powers and functions in relation to apprenticeships and traineeships, recognition of group training and principal employer organisations, vocational placements, skills recognition and employment exemptions under the VETE Act 2000 have been transferred to Skills Queensland.
