Overview
The Productivity Places Program (PPP) is a core element of the Australian Government's Skilling Australia for the Future policy. It aims to address higher level skill shortages and increase workforce participation and productivity. Both existing workers and job seekers are eligible to participate in the program.
The Australian and State/Territory Governments aim to provide a total of 711,000 training places nationally for existing workers and job seekers over five years commencing 2008.
It is expected that approximately 20 per cent of the total training places will be allocated in Queensland, based on the state's share of the working age population.
The Department of Education and Training will target training that is listed on the Queensland Government's Phase III Priority Occupations and Qualifications List and that has been identified as a priority by the state industry training engagement bodies.

National Partnership Agreement on the Productivity Places Program (NP PPP)
The Department of Education and Training (DET) is responsible for managing PPP job seeker and existing worker strategies under the National Partnership Agreement on the Productivity Places Program (NP PPP) between the Commonwealth Government and the Queensland Government from 1 January 2009. The strategies outlined on this website relate to PPP activity that will be administered by DET in Queensland.
The Commonwealth continues to manage Structural Adjustment places and New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) places. More information on the Commonwealth arrangements are available on the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) website.
