The purpose of Positive Dreaming, Solid Futures is to focus on achieving improved employment and training outcomes for Indigenous people.

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) has set a target of halving the gap in Indigenous employment outcomes within a decade. Positive Dreaming, Solid Futures aims to see Queensland play its part in meeting this target. This will be reflected in:

To achieve these outcomes, Positive Dreaming, Solid Futures draws on the results of consultation with  Queensland Government agencies to reinforce existing good practice initiatives, identify areas for improved cooperation and collaboration and areas for re-prioritisation.

Positive Dreaming, Solid Futures has a particular emphasis on those individuals and communities that are locked into intergenerational unemployment due to multi-faceted social and life issues.

Priority areas

Positive Dreaming, Solid Futures commits the Queensland Government to actions around four priority areas:

1. Maximising employment through strategic alliances
2. Skilling individuals for work
3. Building capabilities in communities to enhance community and economic development opportunities
4. Aligning employment support and training to the needs of Indigenous Queenslanders
