Paraprofessionals

Paraprofessionals are persons who hold a qualification above trade level (Certificate IV) and below a degree. They often assist professionals, have highly developed practical skills and understand complex theoretical knowledge.

Search the myfuture website to view the relevant information regarding your occupation.

Overseas qualified paraprofessionals

Formal academic qualifications (not trade qualifications) gained overseas and awarded by recognised educational institutions can be assessed for comparability.

Assessments provide employers and educational institutions with information on how overseas qualifications correspond with Australian awards.  They are not comparisons between Australian institutions or professions and their own overseas counterparts.  Assessments provide an indication of the general academic comparability of a qualification in Australian terms.

The overseas qualification recognition process can provide you with more information about formal academic qualifications.

Gaining a qualification

If you have been working as a paraprofessional, but don't currently hold the relevant qualification you may want to contact Skilling Solutions Queensland.

Skilling Solutions Queensland can refer you to an appropriate Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for an Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment. You may also be eligible for a subsidy towards the cost of the assessment if you go through Skilling Solutions Queensland.

For further information on Skilling Solutions Queensland please visit www.skillingsolutions.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 654 687 to make an appointment at your closest centre.
