Women in Management
This initiative provides information and resources for women, employers and training organisations to support the immediate training needs of women for their increased participation in supervisory roles, management roles and on boards.
More Queensland women are participating in the workforce than ever before, however they remain a largely untapped leadership resource. Studies have shown that achieving a good balance of women in management positions contributes to diversity in business decisions and positive outcomes for organisations in terms of marketing, productivity and reputation.
The EOWA 2010 Australian Census of Women in Leadership on the catalyst website indicates that women remain under-represented in the most senior corporate positions in ASX 200 Australian companies. However, the report expresses optimism that the increase in mentoring programs, talent identification programs and an improved focus on accountability for diversity measures, will contribute to genuine change in Australian business.
The Department of Education and Training is committed to promoting diversification in the Queensland workforce and recognises the contribution women bring in management roles.
