Recognition of Prior Learning
The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process can formally assess individuals' current experience and skills and identify any further training they may need to complete to obtain a certificate, diploma or advanced diploma.
The process suits people who have work skills and knowledge, paid or unpaid work experience, life experience or community work experience. It is a way for current skills and knowledge to be assessed by a registered training organisation to see if they meet today's industry standards.
For further details on RPL refer Recognition of prior learning and credit transfer.
Small Business Solutions
Mentoring process
Small Business Solutions is designed to offer individuals and their business short, sharp, focused blocks of dedicated time and support from a mentor. Depending on specific needs, this may occur once a week, fortnightly or monthly.
As the first step, individuals complete a Business Health Check with their mentor. This fundamental process aims to 'diagnose' the overall performance of a business as well as the specific skills which may need building upon.
The Business Health Check will provide an objective assessment of the business, including strengths and development needs. It will also give an understanding of the future stability and growth potential of the relevant industry.
Upon completing the Business Health Check, individuals and their mentors will be in an informed position to commence the coaching process. The mentor will help identify key issues requiring attention, develop strategies and find solutions.
Skills Recognition:
Similar to Recognition of Prior Learning, Skills Recognition allows individuals' skills and knowledge to be converted into a formal qualification.
Through Small Business Solutions and TAFE Queensland, individuals may be provided with formal accreditation of their skills and knowledge, no matter how, when or where the learning occurred.
Skills Recognition can be used to achieve full or part qualifications and can be used to identify what further training may be needed to get a qualification.
Small business training events:
Small Business Solutions clients have the opportunity to take part in a range of thought-provoking, practical training events. All training events have been specifically selected for their affordability and relevance to small business, thereby complementing the mentoring process.
