Reporting on young people

If you are an eligible learning provider under the new Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 then you have reporting obligations to fulfill.

Eligible learning providers include registered training organisations delivering vocational education and training to a 15 to 17 year old and Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation contracted providers delivering a departmental Employment Skills Development Program such as Get Set for Work.

The law requires learning providers to report the participation of any young person who has been registered with the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA). Information such as enrolments and results, and other information including new or corrected contact details should be reported. This applies to all providers regardless of whether they receive public funds or the student fully pays for their course.

Provider reported activities will often be crucial to young people gaining their Queensland Certificate of Education. Timely and accurate reporting by providers throughout the year is essential.

Critical cut off dates for non-school RTO reporting should be used for all non-school provider reporting and can be found on the senior certification calendar on the QSA website. Data reported after this date will not appear on the statement of results for the young person for that year.

VET providers may report student (15-17 year olds) participation information directly to the Department of Education and Training.

Please complete and return the consent to release information to the Queensland studies authority form providing your consent for the Department to report the relevant information to the QSA on your behalf.
