Information for industry regulators
As part the Council of Australian Government's productivity reforms there has been a greater emphasis on improving the alignment between the licensing and training systems so that the skill related requirements for licensing will be able to be demonstrated through the vocational education and training (VET) system.
To assist in achieving this goal, the Department of Education and Training has established a Licensing Relations unit to work closely with industry regulators to ensure both regulatory and VET requirements are meet.
The unit can assist industry regulators in:
-
developing accredited courses and units of competency to meet a licensing outcome
-
developing assessment tools and trainer and assessor guides
-
establishing memorandums of understanding and course licensing agreements
-
providing strategic advice on occupational licensing/regulatory matters
-
distributing key information to training stakeholders including registered training organisations (RTOs) through Licensing Line News.
Industry regulators looking for further information should visit the Licensing Line News website. It provides background information to help industry regulators understand the VET system along with extensive links to further information including key training organisations and a glossary of VET terms.
