These rules are used by auditors to decide which qualifications/courses to include in audits, which elements of the AQTF to examine, whether to seek technical advice for the audit and any other factors which need to be considered in planning the audit. RTOs can use this document to prepare for upcoming audits and to better understand what the scope of the audit will include.

It is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) that an application for initial registration be accompanied by a self-assessment report of the applicant's compliance with the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Initial Registration. Applicants can use this template which provides a systematic framework and a resource that can be used as a thorough and concise record of the outcomes of that assessment.

RTOs may use this self-assessment report template to guide and record the outcome of self-assessments against the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration to monitor ongoing compliance and when preparing for external audits.

This document is used by technical advisers, engaged by the department to provide industry-specific advice to the audit, to record evidence provided by an RTO and recommendations as to whether the evidence ensures industry relevant training outcomes. The lead auditor will consider this advice when making judgements about AQTF compliance.
