Changing your legal details

Registration as a registered training organisation cannot be transferred, sold or otherwise assigned to another legal entity or organisation. This is because registration is granted on the basis of specific assurances that the organisation will comply with the suitability requirements of the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000 and the Australian Quality Training Framework.

The Policy on changes to organisational status provides direction for registered training organisations who wish to sell their business, or who have undergone a significant change to the legal status of their organisation.

You must inform the department when any legal changes occur to your organisation's legal entity or structure. Some legal changes require an organisation to reapply for registration. To inform the department of changes to the legal details, submit the Change of legal details form and the Conditions of registration declaration. The department will contact you shortly after receiving your forms to discuss the legal changes and advise you on relevant registration requirements.
