How to apply for a vocational placement scheme
Only registered training organisations can apply to the Training and Employment Recognition Council to have a vocational placement scheme recognised.
Steps involved in the application for recognition of a vocational placement scheme
Step 1: Research and understand vocational placement. A Guide to vocational placement for Queensland registered training organisations (RTOs) [PDF 176KB] has been developed to assist RTOs in understanding vocational placement and their responsibilities in respect of vocational placement schemes.
Step 2: Decide if a vocational placement scheme is necessary. Ask yourself if a vocational placement is required to provide a student with the opportunity to undertake practical training and to gain the experience required to enable them to demonstrate competency against the outcomes of a nationally recognised course/qualification.
Step 3: Make sure the course/qualification is within your scope of registration. Learn how to add qualifications/courses to your scope of registration.
Step 4: Complete VPS01 Application for recognition of a vocational placement scheme, ensuring a person with legal responsibility for the RTO signs the application.
Step 5: Submit the application form to the Registration Services unit, including the appropriate fee. Contact details for Registration Services unit.
Step 6: Wait for confirmation of the outcome of the application. This confirmation should be received in approximately 10 working days.
Following receipt of confirmation that the vocational placement has been recognised, the next step is establish a register of each vocational placement agreement for a placement under the scheme and to arrange a vocational placement agreement.
