Skills and Thrills Careers Showcase

The Skills and Thrills Careers Showcase comes to Queensland for the first time, presenting vocational education and training (VET) options and pathways to high school students in the Darling Downs South West and North Coast regions.

Proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government, this pilot program is presented by SkillsOne Television in partnership with the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training and the Department of Education.

Travelling to four locations in each region with one-hour sessions presented two or three times daily in each area, this is an opportunity for high schools to offer their students, teachers, parents and career advisors the most up-to-date and relevant VET information.

Included in the one-hour sessions will be a 35-minute film presentation featuring local VET success stories, as well as live speakers and a Q&A session to answer any queries. The focus will be on in-demand industry areas, such as Community and Healthcare Services, Building and Construction, Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Agribusiness, Digital/IT, new-age technologies (STEM) for growth industries, as well as Advanced Manufacturing.

The National Rugby League will also feature representation at each location to talk to students about the importance of practical skills and gaining industry experience through VET qualifications.
