SQW Community Recovery package
The Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) Community Recovery package has been activated to assist with the clean-up and re-building program across Queensland as a result of widespread damage and flooding caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work has previously contributed to coordinated recovery responses to natural disasters and can quickly prioritise and support local community projects. SQW Community Recovery will offer immediate job opportunities to displaced workers and local job seekers in disaster affected areas to support the recovery effort.
Full-time traineeship opportunities are available through existing SQW programs - Work Skills Traineeships and First Start. The recovery package will be delivered by non-profit community-based organisations and local councils.
Local residents can participate in the re-building of their communities, be paid a full-time wage and undertake nationally recognised training.
