The Department of Education and Training provides a travel and accommodation subsidy for apprentices and trainees who are required to travel at least 100kms return to attend training in relation to their apprenticeship or traineeship.
Am I eligible?
Check if you are eligible to claim and the current subsidy rates.
How do I apply?
The fastest way to apply for the travel and accommodation subsidy is via Travel and Accommodation Online—allowing eligible apprentices and trainees to electronically lodge travel and accommodation claims. Alternatively paper-based forms can be submitted via post, fax or email.
Information for registered training organisations (RTOs)
Once a claim has been submitted by an apprentice or trainee into the department's Travel and Accommodation Online, RTOs are able to electronically verify the attendance of an apprentice or trainee through the Travel and Accommodation RTO Summary in DETConnect.
RTOs that do not currently have access and want to verify claims electronically, can email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide a generic email address. This will enable emails to be sent to remind RTOs that there are claims awaiting verification in DETConnect. RTOs will also need to have a DETConnect account.
The Travel and Accommodation Online Registered Training Organisations (RTO) manual (PDF, 382KB) Version 3.2, February 2015 provides information regarding the RTO section of the online system.
