​Training in Emerging and Innovative Industries Fun​d

The Queensland Government places a high priority on anticipating future skills needs and workforce planning and development. The Training in Emerging and Innovative Industries Fund provides assistance to industries impacted by digital disruption by supporting a transition and adoption of new practices by existing workers.

The principal aims of the Training in Emerging and Innovative Industries Fund are to:

  • ​support the current workforce development needs of enterprises and emerging innovative industries
  • minimise current and potential skills shortages
  • address emerging skill needs in the economy or in industries
  • create an environment where innovation, flexibility and industry focus are paramount.

Who can apply for​​ funding?

Industry peak bodies, unions, VET Industry Advisory Organisations (approved by the department), and TAFE Queensland representing businesses and/or existing workers impacted by digital disruption.

Who will the fund sup​​​port?

Queensland existing workers in industries, regions and enterprises impacted by digital disruption.

What can project​ funds be used for?

Costs directly associated with supporting industries impacted by digital disruption including training and/or the completion of workforce planning and development activities with a community and regional focus that provide benefits that impact the current workforce.

What is the application​​ process?

The Training in Emerging and Innovative Industries Fund is a competitive expression of interest open from 17 December 2017 and closes at 5pm (AEST) on 23 March 2018 and is limited to industries in Queensland impacted by digital disruption. Applications may be submitted to VETInvestment@det.qld.gov.au​ with the subject heading: TEII Fund Application – "name of your organisation".

How are app​​lications assessed?

Applications are assessed against set criteria as detaile​d in the Training in Emerging and Innovative Industries Fund Guidelines for Funding. Applicants must demonstrate their capacity to manage the proposed project and have a mandatory co-contribution from industry, employers or students towards the cost of the project.
