Recognition as a group training organisation

Under Section 84 of the Further Education and Training Act 2014 (the Act) a corporation can apply in the approved form to the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training to be recognised as a group training organisation (GTO) in Queensland.

The application must be accompanied by a report from an approved auditor that assesses the applicant's compliance with the National Standards for Group Training Organisations (PDF, 64KB).

The department evaluates applications to determine whether or not to recognise the organisation as a GTO.

Organisations should seek advice prior to applying to become a GTO.

The application tips page and evaluation of applications page provides advice on how to research and prepare an application for recognition.

Once a corporation is compliant with the national standards, and the department has recognised it as a GTO, it will be placed on the Group Training National Register and be issued with the certified trademark group training logo.

Interstate GTOs

Interstate GTOs seeking recognition in Queensland will make application for recognition as a GTO as detailed above.

An interstate GTO will supply its latest external audit against the national standards with its application.

Should the department recognise the interstate GTO, the GTO will be deemed compliant against the national standards with the date of its next external audit falling due by its interstate registration end date on the Group Training National Register.
