Community organisations

Adult Learning Australia - the national peak body representing organisations and individuals in the adult learning field.

Council on the Ageing, Queensland - an independent, not for profit organisation with a long history of providing benefits and services to people over 50 in Australia.

Lifelong Learning Council Queensland - a peak organisation in the field of adult learning in Queensland.

Queensland Council for Adult Literacy - a voluntary non-profit organisation representing adult literacy in Queensland.

Volunteering Queensland - the peak body for volunteering in Queensland, representing the interests of volunteers and community organisations.

Starting a non-profit organisation

Australian Securities Investments Commission - provides advice on the differences between a company structure and an incorporated association, with specific reference to non-profit and charitable organisations.

Australian Tax Office - for tax information for non-profit organisations.

Business Development - a Queensland Government website with information on starting a business.

Business.gov.au - an Australian Government website with access to government information, forms and services you need for planning, starting and growing your business.

Becoming a registered training organisation

Australian Skills Quality Authority is the national regulator for Australia's vocational education and training sector. Australian Skills Quality Authority registers training providers as registered training organisations, accredits vocational education and training courses and ensures organisations comply with nationally approved quality standards.

Learning resources

Aussie Educator - provides information and resources for educators. 

Community Door - provides information on how to access a wide range of resources to help manage community organisations, plus a range of elearning programs for workers in the community sectors.  

Our Community - provides advice, tools and training for community groups and schools in Australia and links with the community sector, general public, business and government.

Language Literacy and Numeracy network - support literacy tutors, teachers and administrators operating in community environments.

Funding Centre - provides information, ideas and tools for fundraising.

Our Neighbourhood Community Grants - funding of one-off cash payments for projects that will help to build healthier, more vibrant and more inclusive communities.
